Aquila Sunrise

I kept hearing what a difference good strings make, but to be perfectly honest, I doubted I would hear a difference.
I was perfectly happy with my two-year old strings that came with my ukulele. They stayed nicely in tune, and didn’t break when my 11 month-old yanked on them during a recent lullaby.

But, in the interest of blogging, I decided to shell out a whopping $6 (including postage!) for some Aquila strings from Dr. Clucks eBay store.

Aquila Strings for Ukulele

A good investment!

They arrived a scant three days later, in an envelope that looked like it was from a pen pal – hand written address with the words Aquila Strings scrawled across (presumably so I wouldn’t just toss it out with the other bills I don’t like to read).

Well, I am here to report… I was wrong.

I can hear a huge difference – there is a brightness in the tone that words fail to describe. It may be the best $6 I ever spent.

I stand corrected.

  1. Aquilla Strings are the GREATEST, well, one of the greatest strings (I DO believe there are new carbon fibre ones by ORCA around, they’re black). But you can see their factory, and how they make them on Bosco and Honey’s website. Very interesting.
